The Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) serves a diverse student body of approximately 55,000 students. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eugene T.W. Sanders, the District is striving to become a premier school district in the United States of America. The path to excellence includes a massive facilities enhancement project, for which TSI, Inc. serves as District Technology Consultant. In this capacity, TSI is providing guidance in the selection of the latest technology advancements at the greatest cost-savings for the District.
Challenge: : To minimize costs and prevent disparate, redundant systems throughout the district; to provide a safe environment for students and staff; to enrich the classroom environment with technology that is proven to aid student learning.
Solution: Centralized Network Operations Center (NOC) designed by TSI, Inc; TSI's "Classroom of the Future" design.
Results: : As an independent, third-party firm, TSI monitors the design and installation of key technology systems, helping the architects and construction management firms control costs and ensure quality outcomes. Systems in each school are compatible with the NOC, so costs are shared and therefore reduced through economies of scale; Safety and security are improved through the use of IP cameras, wireless phones, and facility access management; enhanced audio and visual instruction encourages student participation and increases performance. Technology enriched classrooms are providing a showcase for excellence in instruction and learning, equipping students to successfully compete in a global economy.
